Jan. 15, 2013 - Clear, sunny skies are predicted all week in North Lake Tahoe. High temperatures will be in the 40s and lows in the single digits. Perfect weather for skiing by day and bundling up in front of a roaring fire at night.
Resorts and Towns' Update
Getting to North Lake Tahoe's snowy ski slopes just got a whole lot easier. The recently launched North Lake Tahoe Free Ski Shuttle runs between area lodging properties to 9 different ski resorts on weekends and holiday weeks now through March 31.

Event Calendar
During the winter of 1960, athletes from around the world came to Lake Tahoe to participate in the Winter Olympic Games. The biathlon and cross-country events were held in what is now Ed Z'Berg Sugar Pine Point State Park on the West Shore. Now through Monday, January 21, participants can join park staff, the West Shore Business Association and the Sierra State Parks Foundation in the celebration of our snow heritage. Scheduled events include an all-ages, beginners, modified biathlon event; snowshoe hikes; and Opening Ceremonies.
Northstar California hosts the U.S. Revolution Tour now through Friday, January 18 on its 22-Foot Superpipe designed by Olympian and Northstar team rider Shaun White. In its 9th season, the U.S. Revolution Tour is a three-stop tour consisting of halfpipe, slopestyle, and cross, for both freeskiing and snowboarding. The tour is designed to serve as a stepping-stone for athletes making the transition from competing at the grassroots level to the elite level.
Tahoe City-based Alpenglow Sports announces the third installment of their Winter Film Series featuring local mountain guide and slideshow favorite Adrian Ballinger, Thursday, January 17, to talk about skiing 8,000-meter peaks in the Himalaya. The event takes place at 7 p.m. at Olympic Village Lodge and is free and open to the public.
The popular Ice Bar Kickoff Party at Alpine Meadows Ski Resort, just outside of Tahoe City, is scheduled for Saturday, January 19. Skiers and riders migrating to the Ice Bar, which is located at the base of the Sherwood Chair, can kick back in a lounge chair with a cold beverage, eat barbecued bratwurst, dance to DJ beats and even try their luck at the hula-hoop contest.
Guests can rub noses with their favorite Squaw Valley Patrol Dog Saturday, January 19, 6-8 p.m., when Gallery Keoki in the Village at Squaw Valley hosts the pooches at a special meet-and-greet with proceeds benefitting the Squaw Dogs. This event is free and open to the public and will have raffle prizes, as well as autographed Patrol Dog images for sale.
California State Parks and West Shore Sports will host a Full Moon Snowshoe Hike Saturday, January 26 along Tahoe's West Shore at Ed Z'Berg Sugar Pine Point State Park. For those new to snowshoeing, there will be a beginner's clinic at 6:30 p.m. The Full Moon Hike starts at 7 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. Cost is $20/adult and $5/children under 12 years, which includes parking and snowshoe rentals.
The North Lake Tahoe Express daily airport shuttle service is available to and from North Lake Tahoe and the Reno-Tahoe International Airport. The shuttle runs from 3:30 a.m. until midnight. Fees are $45 per person, one-way, and $85 round trip. Discounts are available for groups of two or more. Reservations are required and can be made four hours in advance.

The combined efforts of both entities are aimed to further promote North Lake Tahoe as a premier, year-round destination.
