Photo Credits: 213 Migrants Found Inside Cramped Trailer in Mexico
This weekend Mexican authorities stopped a trailer truck near Vera Cruz that contained over 200 migrants crammed inside.? The incident comes on the heels of the May, 2011 incident were 513 migrants were found in two trailers in the same area.
The discovery was made on Sunday at a routine security check point in the southern state of Mexico.? The migrants, mostly from Central and South America, were so packed inside the truck they could only stand upright.? They had not eaten in 24 hours and therefore were very hungry and dehydrated.
All 213 of the migrants had entered Mexico illegally presumably heading toward the U.S. and now will be deported to their homeland.? Most of the migrants were from Brazil, Guatemala, El Salvador and one from India.?
Authorities believe the migrants had paid a ?coyote? smuggler $3,000 to take them from Guatemala to the U.S.? It is not known what the migrants paid to get from their native homeland to Guatemala.?
